MADRID (Reuters) - A small Spanish fishing boat netted more than it bargained for this week when it hauled up 23 bales of hashish instead of the usual batch of anchovies.The catch off the Mediterranean port of Sant Carles de la Rapita Wednesday was worth more than 1 million euros ($1.2 million), Civil Guards said Thursday.
Two other boats separately found two bundles each. The guards said the haul, weighing nearly a ton in total, could be part of a consignment thrown overboard by traffickers interrupted by a patrol boat earlier this month as they were preparing to land.
